Gaétan Jacquet: symbol of rediscovered light

Lilies are the crown jewels among flowers

The elegance and prestige of this impressive flower impose itself as soon as you look at it. How much allure emanates from lilies, I would like to show through nine very different designs I have created.

Symbol of rediscovered light

Bredefleur's lilies trigger a feeling in me that lies somewhere between admiration and impatience. The elegance and prestige of this impressive flower impose themselves as soon as you look at them. How much allure emanates from lilies, I would like to show through nine very different designs I have created.

The lily through the ages

For centuries, lilies have been associated with great moments in the history of Europe. In cathedrals and in the courts of emperors and kings, lilies were the discreet witnesses to events of importance to all mankind.

Within the Catholic Church, the white lily serves as an allegory of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Within other religious traditions, the lily is considered a sign of rediscovered light, while non-believers saw this spectacular white flower as a symbol of fertility.

" Bredefleur's lilies trigger a feeling in me that lies somewhere between admiration and impatience."

And indeed, in the darkest places, these large colorful flowers often bring a gleam of light, with intense radiance. But it is mainly because of the history of the great European royal houses that lilies are seen as the crown jewels among flowers.

These large flowers with their three calyces and three petals are among the most prestigious plant families, encompassing more than sixty different bulbous plants. And I am talking about both wild and cultivated varieties.

Lilies at Bredefleur

Let's move from the garden to the greenhouse to see what inventive botanical minds managed to do with cut flowers, whose bulbs they used to raise spectacular varieties of the lily. These are, of course, available year-round at Bredefleur, European leader in the cultivation of these royal flowers, in a wide variety.

Bredefleur's greenhouses seem like time capsules where the mild climate is stilled at the end of spring, complete with the accompanying warm mist that fills the translucent structure of metal and glass with an intoxicating scent down to the last cracks. A moment of fragrant grace, in a benevolent warmth where only a few pollinating insects break the silence with their dull hum, involuntarily bringing to mind an image of pollen and rich honey.

The lily as the great star

In the world of florists, the lily remains a star, its only rivals being the rose and the peony. While the latter compete for the position of queen, the lily looks down on them sovereignly from its imperial throne. The association with elegance and prestige is also easily made. A bunch of lilies on a showpiece table is something you don't just walk past.

But the lily is not a faded star with the charm of yesteryear and who just never wants to be past her prime. The lily knows how to cause a revolution and is capable of reinventing itself again and again.

The feeling I get with the lilies of Bredefleur

It must be something there at that Bredefleur company that allows them to have such a selection and allows them to maintain that steady line for the production and distribution of such refined flowers. Bredefleur's lilies trigger a feeling in me that lies somewhere between admiration and impatience. I can hardly wait for them to bloom and fill the room with their sweet fragrance!

Now what is that? You say you must have nothing to do with that intoxicating musk smell? You really don't have to banish them from your arrangements and bouquets, because there are plenty of varieties of them that emit no scent at all. Those with an Asian origin, for example, offer the spectacular appearance of a lily, but without the strong scent.

The allure of the lily

Lilies have the gift of turning a simple composition into an elegant or exceptional creation, thanks to their classic shape or, on the contrary, as a more contemporary variety. Such allure, or charisma, is perfect for in our stores.

By selecting high-quality lilies, you will ensure that your customers are captivated by the strength and elegance that rise from these impressive stems. And, price aside, you can confidently present them as a single flower in a beautiful vase. A lily doesn't need company at all to impress! That does not alter the fact that it can be perfectly combined with a few flowers or wild grasses.

Lilies like to go back to their humble origins. She gives us the illusion of everyday life at a castle, but can sometimes come off as surprisingly modern. The lily, lush and graphic, imposing and light, generous and discreet as it can be, is the contested master of contradiction. A heavy flower that can float - which is the last thing you would expect.

My arguments for buying lilies

Lilies have always enjoyed a special status in the world of florists. Unfortunately, they are shunned by many of my colleagues. Wrongly so, because they really are a must, as the high customer demand also proves. The arguments my colleagues come up with are price, quality and environment. However, the soil under all these arguments is swept away by Bredefleur's lilies.

As for the price: sure, it's an expensive flower, but with a lily, one stem is enough, even though it takes up so much space! It purely depends on whether you go for quality or quantity.

As for quality, consistent quality is one of the things that characterizes the Bredefleur company. They will not grow or market lilies there that are unsuitable for the time of year.

As for the environment, the lily is a bulbous plant and therefore not very greedy when it comes to the resources it has to draw from. More importantly, it has natural resistance.

If, despite all these arguments, you don't see much point in lilies, you should try some of these beauties from Bredefleur. And then you will understand why I am so enthusiastic and amazed at the same time. Your customers will be amazed by the beauty of these flowers. Because as a florist, on the one hand you have the know-how, but on the other hand you are constantly faced with questions.

And as for those who already buy and sell lilies, I can only recommend you switch to lilies from Bredefleur. In many ways, that company's lilies can be considered the crown jewels that make your store one big showcase!

The flowers in the objects

The flowers from Bredefleur used in these objects are the Apricot Fudge, the Watch Up Supra, the Nymph, the Zelmira and the double lily Bowl of Beauty.
