Roan's passion for flowers began at an early age. After his education in Flower, Green & Styling at MBO Helicon Den Bosch, he founded his own company: Roan Aarts Flowercouture. For Roan, lilies are more than just flowers; they are a source of inspiration and a canvas for his creativity. He admires their impressive elegance and the enormous variety they offer. "Lilies are perfect for sculptural designs full of craftsmanship," says Roan. "Their natural shapes, rich colors and enchanting scent make them true floral couture."

Among the many lilies used by Roan, the Zelmira a special place. Her unique peach hue with hints of pink and apricot, combined with an impressive size, exudes unprecedented opulence. "The Zelmira showcases the pure perfection of nature," Roan said, "Her complex hues and elegant appearance fit seamlessly with my way of designing."

In his BFF creation with Bredefleur lilies, Roan highlights the versatility of these special flowers. He brought together design, nature, elegance, opulence and craftsmanship in a harmonious composition. The lilies convey a sense of natural opulence, a rich combination of luxury, abundance and aesthetic sophistication that almost makes one forget that one is looking at something purely natural.

Roan worked with a carefully curated selection of lily varieties: the soft peach tones of Zelmira, the powerful, elegant forms of Master, the warm depth of Dalian, the sophisticated pink of Lasting Love and the expressive nature of Dark Secret. By combining these diverse hues and shapes, he created a rich and nuanced color palette inspired by both the natural opulence of lilies and the layering of haute couture.

The design is built in layers, with long lily stems adding height and depth, following a natural flow as if they had grown directly from a lush garden. For added texture and contrast, he used Brugmansia, Begonia, Kalanchoe and Tetrapanax, as well as even carefully chosen fruits to enhance the natural harmony and abundance. Every detail exudes the craftsmanship of Roan Aarts Flowercouture, with the lily as the radiant centerpiece and common thread throughout.

A special moment for Roan was his visit to Bredefleur's greenhouses. "It was wonderful to experience how growing your lilies is a form of pure craftsmanship," he says. "Your lilies fit perfectly with my view of design." It was an honor for him to be in the greenhouse, see where the product comes from and even get to design there.
