Ella Fodor: Challenging my floral voice with lilies in blue, white and autumn hues

My flower voice

Whether it was the challenge of dyed flowers or the grounding power of rocks, each design allowed me to reflect my love of simplicity, nature and the warmth of Maramureș.

As a florist, my creativity is always strongly connected to nature and simplicity. I find that every flower, every element, tells its own story. When I received blue-dyed lilies from Bredefleur, I knew I was facing a unique challenge. Dyed flowers have a certain appeal for many, but I prefer to work with the natural beauty of flowers. At the same time, I saw this as an opportunity to push my boundaries. In addition to blue lilies, I was also given the opportunity to work with pure white lilies and the warm tones of autumn - one of my favorite color palettes - by combining them with earthy stones.

The challenge of blue lilies

The blue lilies were striking, but were outside my usual comfort zone. I usually lean toward the simplicity of nature and colors that feel organic. But I saw this as an opportunity to combine something bold with my style. Instead of being overwhelmed by the intensity of the painted blue, I focused on the arrangement and presented it in a warm and neutral place. I wanted to keep the balance and still let the unique blue hue shine.

Although I would not normally choose dyed flowers, I respected the creativity behind them and went with a trend. Still, I stayed true to my aesthetic and made sure that the warmth and earthiness of my roots in Maramureș (a Romanian district) remained in the design. In this design, I worked with Bowl of Beauty Blue, Bowl of Beauty and Bach.

Love Rocks - Integrating nature into my design with white lilies

White lilies are intriguing to work with. Their clean lines and serene presence give me a sense of purity that I love to work with. For one of my arrangements, I decided to combine them with something unexpected: rocks. The contrast between the softness of the lilies and the rough texture of the rocks was exactly what I needed to create a grounded yet elegant design. The stones added a raw, natural element that anchored the lilies without overshadowing their beauty. This design reminded me of the landscapes in Maramureș, where nature feels powerful and peaceful. I always strive to capture the combination of strength and grace in my work. In this design, I worked with Bowl of Beauty and Master

The warmth of autumn in flower form

Autumn in Maramureș has always inspired me. The warm, earthy tones of the season - deep oranges, reds and yellows - create a natural palette that evokes comfort and warmth. I knew I had found a perfect match when I combined the peach with the vibrant fall hues. The lilies became the calm centerpiece amidst the richness of the fall colors. Their simplicity balanced the intensity of the oranges and reds, creating an arrangement that felt like a cozy embrace of the season. This design connected me more than any other to the warmth of my home and the beauty of nature's cycles. In this design, I worked with Original Love, Tintoretto, and Apricot Fudge.
