Morgan Douglas Nuth: A love affair with lilies

My journey with Bredefleur has been a true delight. As a florist with over 30 years of experience, lilies have always held a special place in my heart. These beautiful flowers have been a cornerstone of my success for decades, adorning countless designs and enchanting customers time and time again.

In British culture, lilies have deep meaning. They are often seen as symbols of remembrance and play an important role in mourning arrangements. But their appeal extends far beyond just somber occasions. I find time and again that many of my clients are attracted to the simple elegance of a single lily - its powerful presence immediately grabs attention in any space. This says much about their unique charm; few flowers can dominate a room like a perfectly placed lily.

The variety of lilies is truly stunning, with a wide range of colors and scents to suit every taste. From the luxurious red of the Asian lily to the soft pastel shades of Oriental lilies - there is a lily for everyone. And then that enchanting scent! The scent of a blooming lily can fill a home with a wonderful aroma, evoke fond memories and create a magical atmosphere.

For this recent collaboration with Bredefleur, I was lucky enough to work with three wonderful varieties: the fascinating Dutch Design Lily with its lush double petals, the fragrant beauty of a pink Oriental lily and the elegant look of the red Original Love-lily.

I was immediately impressed by the deep, passion-filled red of Asian lilies. To emphasize their dramatic beauty, I created a striking centerpiece with a sturdy red cane structure on a wooden base. This gave the lilies full attention, with their strong stems emphasizing their powerful radiance. Two beautiful Delft blue vases, a tribute to Holland and its rich floral history, completed the design.

But my lily adventure didn't stop there. I also designed a spectacular two-meter-high structure to showcase the versatility of all three varieties. This allowed each lily to shine individually, resulting in a breathtaking arrangement that honored the unique beauty of each flower.

This collaboration with Bredefleur was a particularly inspiring experience. It reaffirmed my deep appreciation for these magnificent flowers and showed me how many creative possibilities they offer for floral design.
